Reformation Day commemorates Martin Luther’s posting of the 95 Theses in 1517, marking the renewal of the Church according to God’s Word. Luther emphasized justification by grace through faith, the authority of Scripture, and the proper use of the Sacraments; this day celebrates the restoration of the Gospel and the Church’s continual call to reform according to Christ. Reformation Day invites us to rejoice in God’s grace and the freedom found in Christ.

May it inspire faithful study of Scripture, zeal for proclaiming the Gospel, and continual renewal of our hearts and congregations in Christ’s truth.
