“War broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer” (Revelation 12:7). These words begin the traditional Epistle lesson appointed for the Feast of Saint Michael (Sept. 29). What or who are the angels? Why do they matter? Why do we have a feast day in the catholic Church designated just for them? And what do they have to do with the Church today and with the day to day lives of the children of God?
